One of our international mission relationships is with a surgical center in Haiti, maintained by Village member and elder, Ted Higgins. He travels to Fonds-Parisien, Haiti every few months with other surgeons and health care professionals to care for the community, and is sponsoring Haitian doctors to come to KC for extra learning and training.
This summer, a fire devastated the warehouse here in KC where medical equipment and supplies are stored before they're transported to Haiti. They need our help!
We'll spend the morning cleaning and salvaging medical equipment to ensure this partnership can continue.
BRING: Gloves and cleaning rags (things you don't plan to get back!), personal water bottles
WEAR: Old clothes (soot is hard to wash out, plan to get dirty!)
LOCATION: 6510 65th Street, KCMO. The address isn't found on Google Maps (but does exist, promise). The best way to get there is to enter the DCI Dialysis Bldg parking lot off Troost and roughly 65th. On the right side of the parking lot is a small road down a hill. About 50 yards down the hill is the warehouse. There is parking there as the warehouse is adjacent to the Research Medical Center Brookside Campus off Rockhill Road.
This event is appropriate for all ages. Feel free to bring children along!
